    Suicide prevention hotlines are fielding a record-breaking number of calls following the news that yet another big-name celebrity, TV chef Anthony Bourdain, died of an apparent suicide on Friday.
    According to a report released Thursday by the Center for Disease Control , suicide rates are up 30 percent since 1999, and only half of those who died had been diagnosed with mental health issues. But the recent influx is due in part, they say, to a string of celebrity suicides, which also includes designer Kate Spade and Swedish musician Avicii.

    It was one of Anthony Bourdain's closest friends who found him unresponsive in his hotel room on Friday morning.
    Éric Ripert, a famed chef in his own right, honored Bourdain, who died by suicide at the age of 61 .

    Among the more unexpected tributes came from musician and outspoken conservative Ted Nugent, whose political views would seem to have little in common with Bourdain's.

    Within hours after the news that CNN star Anthony Bourdain had died by suicide in a Paris hotel room, network executives have received “at least a half dozen” unsolicited pitches from individuals looking to replace the chef on the long-running travel show “Parts Unknown.”
